I sent your message to my husband's sister who, I think, has the Denike family history.Unfortunately there isn't a genforum Denike site but I checked for the other names you are researching. There are pages for all the names and a recent Van Tassel entry re a v. t. family in Nova Scotia. That could be the connection you are looking for.
I do know 'Wood' and 'Ward' families from the area where my O. family lives - - but know nothing about their ancestry. Harold Ward was a neighbour and his sons are still living - - Leon in the Kingston area and Keith in a small village ' Rednersville' which is in Prince Edward County not far from Belleville, Ontario.
