In my husbands' family records we have a Patrick O'Mara married to a Catherine (Lally) O'Mara coming over from Ireland and Patrick dying onboard ship on the journey.
They migrated to Rock Island County, Illinois.

Patrick O'Mara (listed as Patrick O'Meara on the IL Gen Web) was one of 7 children and he served in the 126th Illinois Volunteer, Company I, as a drummer boy (ages 13-17) from 1861-65.Patrick then became a lawyer and county district Attorney for Rock Island County, Rock Island, Illinois.
