If your grandfather was James Joseph O'Meara, husband of Agnes C O'Meara he did not die until after he registered for the WWI draft on Sept 12, 1918.He was 43 yrs old at that time and his registration card indicates that Agnes C O'Meara was his closest relative. Where did you get your information--is it based on birth/death certificates or just family lore? The James married to Agnes was alive AFTER 1907 for sure.
I believe this because I have been researching the older James O'Meara (his wife I believe was the sister of my great grandfather, Daniel Myron--which might make us related!)I have pulled up James J O'Meara's draft card on Ancestry. And further, according to LDS Family Search he married Agnes C Rider on 22 Sept 1903.I also see him listed as living with his wife agnes and son Joseph (5yrs) in the 1910 census on Eggleston St. in Kalamazoo, but by the 1920 census, Agnes is shown a widow living with her parents and son Joseph, (15 yrs).
I think it is possible James was a WWI casualty if you could not find his grave in Kalamazoo's Riverside Cemetery.
Your posting is so old I am not sure you are still interested in help, but this is part of what I have uncovered in my research.
