Seeking info on Thomas O'Mara, born ca 1835 TN or KY, died Apr 1905, bur Cave Hill Cem, Louisville KY. According to census and other records, he was a druggist, married at least three times: first to Ellen, second to Alice J. McGinnis, third to Mrs. Mary (Cruise) Mapother in Louisville. In 1876 had son Thomas O'Mara, whose name was changed by 1900 to Thomas Cruise Mapother. Thomas O'Mara (Sr.) is described as a widower on the 1900 census of Whitley Co KY.
Children of Thomas O'Mara:
1. Mary E. O'Mara, b ca 1862 KY. Possibly the only child of Thomas' first marriage. Mary appears to have remained single. She might be the Mary O'Mara, "inmate" of the Convent of the Good Shepherd in Cleveland OH in 1900. Living with sister Alice at Columbus OH in 1910; alone in West Corbin, Whitley Co KY in 1920, a dry goods merchant; and with Alice again in San Diego CA in 1930. She may be the Mary E. O'Mara who died in Jefferson Co KY 11 Mar 1935 at the age of 72.
2. Alice M. O'Mara, b in KY 12 Jun 1866 according to death record, or 1867 according to 1900 census. Living with father in Williamsburg, Whitley Co KY, in 1900; Columbus OH in 1910; San Diego CA 1920. Died in Alameda Co CA 12 Dec 1963.
3. Frances M. "Fannie" O'Mara, b Jun 1869 KY, m William Perkins, lived Williamsburg, Whitley Co KY, 1900. See WorldConnect submission. Possibly the Fannie Perkins who died in Jefferson Co KY 3 Feb 1930 at age 60.
4. Anna Belle O'Mara, b Aug 1871. Name and birth date from WorldConnect submission. Possibly the Anna O. McK----, b Aug 1871, living next door to Thomas O'Mara and Alice in 1900 Williamsburg, Whitley Co KY, with husband Arthur B. McK----, b Jan 1871 IN. This name might be McKean (for McKeehan?).
5. Thomas O'Mara, b 29 Dec 1876 Louisville KY, d there 12 Apr 1939, bur St. Louis Cem. Name changed to Thomas Cruise Mapother possibly around the time of his parents' divorce or separation, which evidently occurred between 1880 and 1890.
