Oliver / Gallagher - Ireland, Cumberland, USA
I have a Simon Gallagher who left Ireland in the 1810s for Cumberland, UK. He took on the name Golifer - often rendered Gollifer, Gulliver and Oliver. Apparently another chunk of his family went to the USA. I have a Gallagher family emmigrating from Londonderry to Philadelphia in 1811 who may have taken on the Oliver surname on arrival. Their names are:
Cath. Gallagher
Chas. Gallagher
Hugh Gallagher
Mary Gallagher
Michl. Gallagher
Patk. Gallagher
If anyone thinks any of this rings a bell do let me know. This has been a brick wall for a while and it's great to finally get a break through on this branch of the family.
