My grandfather is John Oliver, from Giles County, TN His father was killed in a logging accident before he was born. He had two or three full brothers and sister. His mother later married a Dr. White and had several children by him. I do not know his mother's name but I remember visiting his mother's sister, Aunt Lyzia who lived in Pulaski, Tn as a child. Since his father died before he was born and I do not know his mother's name I really need help. I know he was from Giles County Tn and came down to Greenhill, AL and worked for a Mr. Richardson when he was only 16. He met my grandmother, Betty Okie Haygood and they married in 1918 I think. Oh how I wish I had asked questions before my Papa passed away but I was young and it never occured to me. My precious grandparents lived in Florence, Al and although I loved them both dearly, I was never afforded the pleasure of living in Florence, Al. I was only able to visit. My Papa John really never talked about his parents and I now realize why. He never knew his father and from what I can gather there were problems with Dr. White, enough so he quit school after the 9th grade and went to Greenhill, Al and worked for Mr. Richardson. His mother passed away when she somewhere around 45 years of age.
If anyone knows anything detail that might be helpful, I sure would appreciate it.
