That is him! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Since my initial posting I have found that our Francis OLIPHANT was born 1902 of Francis OLIPHANT and Helen McBAIN. We don't know what became of him (where/when died; if remarried; if fathered any other children ...) There were four generations of Francis OLIPHANTS and one William OLIPHANT in that line. The furthest back I have is a Francis OLIPHANT born about 1735 married to Janet MITCHELL and living at Lasswade, Midlothian.
