O'LEARY/O'SHEA OF DROMTARIFFE AND DOUGLAS CO. CORKS
This would appear to be the best lead i've had so far in tracing my O'Leary roots, in that I've discovered an O'Leary/O'Shea link in Ireland which could be related to the same link in Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire, Wales. John Leary and Mary Shea of Rathroe (R.C. Parish of Dromtariffe, Diocese of Kerry), Civil Parish of Macloneigh, Co. Cork were married Feb.5 1846.Winesses, jeremiah Shea and Denis McCarthy. It is possible that they both died during the Great Famine as I can only find -thanks to th Irish Governments website of Records - one issue of their marriage whom I believe could be my great grandfather Patrick. He was born possbly in Douglas Village (R.C. parish of Douglas Diocese of Cork and Ross), Civil Parish of Carrigaline, Co.Cork.- March 10 1850. Witnesses, Patrick Vaughan, Hannah Shea. The records are silent about him until he turns up in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, marries and starts his family. It is significant for me that there are a number of Shea godparents to his children and close relatives in Ebbw Vale Catholic Records. The names are quite common --Joseph,Thomas,Daniel and Margaret Shea and may all be closely related I hope to each other and my Patrick..... Open to offers. Thanks, Brendan O'Leary.
