Greetings,
I am very happy to hear from you! I have been researching this side of the family for 5 years and have been at a brickwall for quite a while. I began with absolutely no information on this side of the family other than the fact that my GR grandfather was named "Harry Oldfield". It took several birth & death certificates, census information, etc. to put this puzzle together. I was quite surprised to discover roots in NYC, the orphanage, the second family that William had, etc. - our family knew nothing of this, nobody, including Harry, spoke of his past.

Do you know where William (b. 1839) is buried or when he died? I have had about 5 rejections from the Municipal Archives concerning a death certificate for William for various time periods and boroughs. William was originally married to my GRGRgrandmother (Anna Densmore) who died in childbirth in NYC in March 1869. The baby died shortly, thereafter, as well. Their first child (also named Anna) was born about 1856, their second child (my GR grandfather) was William Henry Oldfield "Harry" born 11 Sep 1857. There appears to be a third child, I believe, Jennie Oldfield,in the 1880 Brooklyn census living with the Dinsmore family as "niece", age 20 - born about 1860. It appears that after Anna Densmore died, the children or at least my GR grandfather was sent to an orphanage - I find him in 1870 in a Long Island orphanage - I have no idea what ever happened to his elder sister, Anna. I am very curious, also, as to the child/ren that likely where born during the 1860s, considering that Anna died in childbirth in 1869, I find it likely that more children were born. Someday I hope to visit the Municipal Archive to research further children.

I had no idea about Agnes and Lucy. I had no idea what happened to George, either. Do you know when William and Mary O'Brien were married?

Any information that you can provide will be so greatly appreciated. I truly believed that all information on this family was lost and I am greatful that you responded to my posting.

I look forward to hearing from you.
