Thanks for your reply. I am trying to connect to John Joseph's brother. The earliest Oldfield I can trace to is John Oldfield who married Maria Knowles on 14 March 1861 at St John's Church in the Parish of Manchester in the County of Lancaster (that is the wording on the marriage certificate] His age is listed as 30 making him born about 1831. It lists his father as John, Farmer [this is the one that I hoped was Joseph's brother.]1861 census lived Haughton Green, 1871 Hermitage, 1881 Rose Bank, Haughton. His marriage to Maria lists him as a widower but I haven't found his previous marriage. Hopefully when we get more info we might prove a link. down the line Frank Oldfield came to the United States. I live in Massachusetts and I am hoping to visit there. Nice to talk to you will advise when I find something new.
