I am searching for information pertaining to the grandmother of my best friend. Her maiden name was Marie K. Hopkins, and she came to this country from Oldenburg, Germany when she was very young. She was old enough to already speak and write in German. She married James Lawler, and died in 1976 at the age of 87. Her birthdate is October 28, 1888. My friend has had a severe stroke and wants to leave his daughter information about his grandmother's German roots. I welcome any information which will facilitate my search. She had a Social Security card, and I know her number, and will obtain a copy of her application, and get the names of her parents. I don't know how to proceed further in tracing their names to Oldenburg, Germany.
