We may well be related. This is an interesting and colorful family, and well worth getting to know. My Mother and I did some preliminary work on Karl and Sophie Oldenburg in 2000 in Houston County, MN. We found a typed article dated 1963 in the historical center files in Caledonia which gave us significant context and information. Both Karl and Sophie are buried in the Toledo Cemetary outside of LaCrescent, MN, and we have visited their graves. Unfortunately, Mother kept the information and passed away last July. I'm sure I'll be able to find it over time, but I'm tied-up with taxes right now . . . but would enjoy corresponding and chatting with you from time to time.
