kaaren, saw your message regarding richard okey. i have researched okey civil war soldiers. one was richard griffin okey who moved to oskaloosa, mahaska county, iowa after the war. he served in the 161st and the 185th ohio volunteer infantry regiments. his brother, benjamin, served in the 42nd and 125th ovi regiments. he too moved to iowa after the war. richard was born in belmont county, ohio in 1845. benjamin was born in noble county, ohio in 1843. their father was a lewis okey born abroad, france? two okey families coexisted in se ohio at the same time before the civil war. i have been unable to make the connection. any info you can share will be appreciated. i'm having some trouble receiving my e-mail so copy any relpy to mokey@okeylawfirm.com as well. thanks mark
