Mark:Please refer to posting #24, dated Feb 3, 2001.It is by my sister Bonnie (Okey) Benton. She met someone who worked at O'Connor Hospital in 1964 when her daughter Lisa was born. The woman brought a family Bible to the hospital and in the front of it there was a copy of a portrait of Colonel John.Except for the long hair, he was a "dead ringer" for my grandfather (not my Dad) George William Okey Senior.Bonnie is almost seven years younger than I and didn't know our grandfather personally. He lived in Denver, Colorado and she was born in California shortly before he died. There is a "family nose" that is very clear in our Grandfather, a little less so in our Dad and even less so in me.Neither of my sisters followed that trend--one favors my our Mother's side of the family and the other looks more like our Dad's sister and the Swedish side (Hanson). We would love to be able to decide whether or not we have a connection to Colonel John and to you. There are many others wondering the same thing. The woman who spoke to Bonnie told a story of a son who went to Australia and later came to the US.Her husband was descended from him.I don't know his name.We have traced our Okey roots back to Delaware/Maryland in the US until about 1700, but can't get beyond that, not do we know where in Englad they came from.Any help would be wonderful.
