Hello John, I am descended from Woodman as well. My line is as follows: Leven, Woodman, Gardner, George, Evert, Gene, Randall. I grew up in Chandlersville, Ohio but spent alot of time in Monroe County with my grandparents who liked to show me places that were of family historical interest. I recently went back to Woodsfield and looked at where Leven is buried.

I do not know where the John story originated. It had been written down and was given to me by my cousin Robert, who is now in a rest home in Zanesville, Ohio. He, by the way, often spoke of Miles but I am now not sure where he was in the lineage. No, I also have not heard about there being an indian connection.

Thanks for the reply, Randall Okey
