Bridget O'Keefe and a new family mystery

For years I have posted regarding Mary Keavin/Keven/Kevan and John Edgerly marrying in Memphis, TN. I have never been able to find her ship records that fit her birth year (1843) AND fall within when she married John Edgerly in Memphis in 1857.

The family story was from Tipperary and she traveled on a ship with her mother who died at sea. But again I could find nothing that even closely resembled the family story.

When researching her daughters Maggie (Margaret) and Molly (Mary) yesterday...I noticed something odd...on her death certificate Maggie Edgerly Digel has her mother listed as Bridget O'Keefe being born in Ireland.

Knowing that is untrue I have mounds of records (Census, death records, marriage records, etc)proving that Mary Keavin is her mother...this threw me into a complete state of confusion. But if you take into consideration that my family knows the name but not where it came from...is it possible that she changed her name?? Could it have been that since her mother's name was Bridget (the same as her own), she chose to go by her middle name, Mary, and dropped the "O" off of her name and changed it to Keavin?

In the ship record I found yesterday, a woman is also listed as Bridget O'Keefe at age 50 and then the younger Bridget O'Keefe at age 12. This ship record fits perfectly with MY MARY KEAVIN's age and also allows her time to immigrate and then marry in Memphis in the proper timing to fall before her marriage cert. There is only ONE record that fits. And at this point, it seems feasible to me.

On this same ship record there is also listed with Bridget (age 50) and Bridget (age 12) an Eliza O'Keefe (sister in law? daughter in law?)age 35, and three children and no ages are given: John, Catharine, and Eliza.

Other than that, I have no information on the O'Keefe's or how I am connected to them but the name didn't just get pulled out of thin air and there is no record of anyone with that name for the 100 year stretch that I have meticulously re-constructed their lives.

If anyone has any information on this family (especially the names I mentioned) I would greatly appreciate any info that you have.
