Hello Bryan, and thank you for your message. Since this posting I have discovered that Cornelius married Katy Casey (age 25, a widow), nee Winn in February 1900. The Winn family were from New Haven and I have census records of her parents and siblings. Other than the already mentioned census of June 1900, I have no further information on what happened between then and 1903, when Cornelius and his children returned to Wales. I would think the most likely explanation is that she died in childbirth as so many did; however I can't know for sure. I've been hoping a descendant of the Winn family would be able to fill me in on what happened, but I've yet to make contact with anyone. I believe the reason Cornelius and his 1st wife Bridget (my great-grandmother) settled in the area was that he already had family from Ireland living there, but I've no proof or further information. I posted the message so long ago that I'd almost forgotten about it: it's been very nice to hear from you and thank you for taking the time to contact me. Regards, Teresa
