KANE/O'KANE -- Researching line of my paternal grandfather -- Dominick Kane b. 1866
Gateshead, Durham Co., England. Father: Bernard, b 1828, Co. Derry; mother: Mary McKie, b 1832. Dom's Grandfather: Neal/Neill, b. about 1800. Dom's Siblings: Neil, b 1852; James b 1857, Ann b 1859, Mary Jane b 1861, all Co. Derry; Susannah, b 1864; Hannah, b 1868, both in Gateshead. Family migrated from No. Ireland to NE England 1861-64, then to America about 1883-85; unknown ports of embarcation or debarcation, or ship(s). Dominick had 4 wives: first unknown, d Philadelphia June 1887; m Mary Ann McKenna in Philadelphia 1888, d 1893; m Elizabeth "Lizzie" Agnes Connelly Manion, d 1908 San Francisco; m Delia Durkin, 1913 Philadelphia, d 1939 Long Beach CA. Dominick was active for 60 years as organizer and senior officer in International Boilermakers Union, including Grand VP 1900-04, and Deputy Intl Organizer. Active in KofC. Reportedly once fought bare-knuckles against John L. Sullivan, later heavy weight champion (perhaps sparring partner?). Any info? Family lived in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Long Beach, CA, and Seattle WA areas. Hannah married Jimmy McGregor and settled in Cleveland, OH. Susannah (aka Susan Agnes) never married. Neil married Susan Diamond before coming to America. Dominick d 1944 Long Beach. Any information on Bernard, Dominick, spouses, or other kin?
