I am flabbergasted that I have just discovered this message as I have been looking for any connection to my ancestors since approx.. 1998- but I am thrilled to have found this now.
My Kanes are from the Dingle Penindula & I have narrowed it down to Boherback & one other location. There seems to be a direct connection as all of the names & dates resonate.
Mt Great , great Grandfather was JOhn Kane : b. July 1834. His Father's name was Jeremiah Kane & poss. his Mother's was Ellen Fitzgerald. John immigrated in 1847/1848. He supposedly had brothers.. His children were named Jeremiah, ( John) Michael, Patrick, Maurice & Thomas. He married Mary Agnes Bourke in 1864 ( probably also from Kerry.
They settled in the St. Louis area.. ( East St. Louis.Ill)
Supposedly there were brothers or relatives that we never knew. I have found the only immigration records that connect and one of them have a Michael & Patrick ( older) accompanying John. The other has two women w/ him.
Although your records are later - they seem to skip a generation. I am wondering if your Mary was a sister or cousin to my ancestor Jeremiah Ksne.
Do you have any additional information since apparently many years have passesd since this post? I would love to hear from you.
Thank you for your consideration,
Jeannie Kane
