My Simon KANE is also from County Clare. I cannot pin down the specifics there. He was born sometime between 1810 and 1830, the son of Patrick Kane and Bridget or Ellen Meade/Maide. He had a sister, Bridget, who married a Michael Reidy. They all settled around Elmira, Chemung County, NY after 1849. Family lore says that the name was originally O'Kane. I've seen every variation in all of the records. There are not too many Simons around, so I thought we might connect.
