Hi Mike, found this while looking for something else. some of the info I found in one of the books at the Priests house in Castlegregory, the books are all being colated at the present time, the originals were getting so worn they thought htey had better do some thing about their records.
Michael Keane/Brigida Pendy Micheal was born in Aucasli. Their first 3 children were also born here, Morteus 05/02/1846 sirname Keane, next Michael born 25/04/1847 sirname Kane, different Priest on duty for the registration of birth. Next Maria born 12/05/1848 sirname Kane.
Catherina born 28/08/1849 in Keelballylahiff sirname Kane, Brigida born 27/10/1850 in Shounthalliuv sirname Kane, Elizabeta born 24/04/1852 in Castlegregory sirname Kane,Joannes = John born18/06/1853 Castlegregory sirname Kane. Petrus = Peter born 05/11/1854 Castlegregory, sirname Kane. Thomas born 05/02/1856 Castlegregory sirname Kean, different Priest for registration of birth. Brigida born 08/09/1858 Castlegregory sirname Kane, different Priest again. These different sirnames were a puzzle at first, the Priest we spoke to said the children were registered with Latin names and the sirname spelling was how the priest heard it at the time, they could not give me the English translation of Morteus, it was a new one for them. Still working on the newest members of the Clan.
Cheers, Colleen
