I am looking into the lineage of my grandmother, Elizabeth McPartland: born: either September 19, 1902 or September 16, 1903 in Bawnboy, Co. Cavan. Her birth certificate is registered in the District of Ballyconnell. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1922 from Ballinamore Co. Leitrim. Her mother was Margaret McPartland and aunt was Teresa McPartland (referred to as Auntie Mac by my father, David A. Dodd and his 3 brothers). Both her mother and aunt came to the U.S. before she did, around 1910. Her Aunt married into the Martins family of Manhatten Avenue in NYC. They all lived in Manhatten until my grandmother moved to Buffalo, NY with her husband Denton Dodd. At some point upon her arrival to New York, my grandmother changed her last name to O'Kane. We have no idea where this surname came from. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it.
