These are the verified details of my ancestors and I have been able to get all the information on my branck of the family until the present day.

I wonder does anyone recognise any of the names.

Hugh Kane had married Rose McWilliams Magilligan sometime in the late 1850's. The marriage records for the period 1834 - 1864 are missing from the Dungiven Church records so an exact date is now nearly impossible to get. The family lived in Clontagera (or Cluntygera) (Place of many meadows) outside of Dungiven town Co Derry.
In February 2000 an examination of the Dungiven records revealed that Rose Magilligan may have been born on 24/03/1831 in Clontagera with Patrick Magilligan her father and Peggy McWilliams her mother.
There were seven children two sisters and five brothers that there are verified records for who were the sons of Hugh Kane and Rose Magilligan from Clontagera:
Mary Magilligan Kane (11/12/1853 -- 23/08/1915) was baptised on the day of her birth in St Patrick’s Church Dungiven with the sponsors being Hugh McCloskey and Anne Magilligan (not her maternal aunt, maybe one through marriage). She was baptised by Fr P McFeely.

John Magilligan Kane (20/10/1856 -- --/--/--) was baptised on the day of his birth in St Patrick’s Church Dungiven with the sponsors being Mary McCloskey and Paul Thine. He was baptised by Fr M Rogers. He may have been married to Mary McCloskey on 18/05/1878, with Hugh & Mary McCloskey as witnesses.

Margaret Magilligan Kane (29/09/1859 -- --/--/--) was baptised on the day of her birth in St Patrick’s Church Dungiven with the sponsors being Patrick McCloskey and Mary Kane. She was baptised by Fr P McFeely.

Patrick Magilligan Kane (03/03/1863-- c 11/04/1913) was baptised on the day of his birth in St Patrick’s Church Dungiven with the sponsors being James McCloskey and Jane Kane. He was baptised by Fr Peter Bradley. He married a person called Nell McDevitt (c 1863 – 12/11/1951) and they had no children

Paul Magilligan Kane (19/05/1866 -- c 18/05/39) was baptised on the day after his birth in St Patrick’s Church Dungiven with the sponsors being John McCloskey and Mary McCloskey. He was baptised by Fr P McKenna. Paul changed his name back to its original usage O’Kane. Paul meet and married Mariann O’Kane (Kane) who was a Milliner and Hat Maker in Austin’s in Derry City. Mariann may have originally come from Strabane Townsend Street.
There is the family story that Mariann was called Kane and only took O’Kane when she married but this can not be verified.

Paul Kane (or O’Kane) (19/05/1866 – 18/05/1939) had bought 60 acres of land at Bearney Glebe, Sion Mills, Co Tyrone.
The plot of land ran to the bottom of the hill to an area known locally as the "rocks". He met and married a local Strabane person called Mary Anne O’Kane (c 1863 – 25/11/38) and they moved into the farmhouse at Bearney Glebe.
They had seven children:

Mary O’Kane O’Kane (Molly) (19/11/1893 -- --/--/--) was baptised the day after her birth in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Strabane by Fr Joseph Bradley with Patrick O'Kane (her paternal uncle) and Mary O’Kane (possibly her paternal aunt) acting as her sponsors.
Molly was to die when she was seventeen from being “overfeed” always being given the strippen of the cow, which was the best part of the cow. My Auntie Margaret on the other hand remembers that her mother had told her she died of pneumonia. She was also reported to have been very beautiful. There are no records of her burial in Strabane Cemetery.

James O’Kane O’Kane (05/12/1894 – 03/03/1977) was baptised the day after his birth in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Strabane by Fr Joseph Bradley with James O'Kane (his paternal uncle) and Maggie O’Kane (do not know as of January 2000) acting as her sponsors. James is registered as a Mill Worker on the Council records in Strabane.

James was to die before Sarah leaving her the estate which she left to her niece Noreen Farrell Maxwell who lives with her husband Seamus on Bell’s Park Road, High Sion, Co Tyrone. James died on the 3rd of March 1977 and was buried in Strabane Cemetery on the 5th of March 1977.
