John Roger Graves, born 3 July 1862 Indiana, died 21 Aug 1952 Waynoka, Woods county, OK. His parents were Hannah Yardy and William Graves, from England. Attached is a transcribed obituary for his father from a local paper, along with other information about the family. We would like to learn more about the family and occupation of John Roger Graves.

Obituary: Hutchinson News, Hutchinson KS
Death date: 23 August 1918, Reno County, KS
"Graves Funeral Services will be held tomorrow for Reno County Pioneer Resident."

William Graves, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Reno County, died at his home just west of the city Friday afternoon, August 23rd (1918). The funeral will be held from the home tomorrow at ten o'clock, Rev. Soward Baker officiating, and burial will be in Eastside Cemetery (Hutchinson, KS).

Mr. Graves was born in Hillrow, England, Feb 2, 1836, and came to America in 1853. He was married June 26, 1855, to Miss Hannah Yardy, who survives him. They settled in Indiana in 1856 and came to Kansas in 1876, locating in Troy township where they made their home until recently. To their union nine children were born: A.J. Graves, deceased; William Graves, Jr., Sheldon, IL; John R. Graves, Waynoka, OK; Mrs. J. W. Dawson of Salt Creek township; H.O. and C.E. Graves of Reno County; Mrs. J.H. Tharp, Mrs. Rose Lewis, and Mrs. T.G. Armour of this city.

William Graves belonged to the foundation citizens of Kansas. He came to Reno county in an early day and successfully overcame the natural inhospitality of this great plains country. He was one who had hope and courage to surmount the difficulties incident to transposing the wilds to the domestic uses of farm life. He took an active interest in business affairs and was known among business men for his industry and his unimpeachable intergrity. He was a devoted husband, an indulgent father, a neighborly neighbor, and an honest man. He looked upon the sunset of life without emotion and the dusk of evening without fear. In the fullness of years of an active and useful life, he has been gathered in to join the innumerable hosts who have passed beyond.
