Headline: "Funeral Saturday For R. L. Whinery"

Funeral services for R. L Whinery who died suddenly at his home Saturday, January 20, were held in the
Church of Christ at Canute Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Interment was at the Canute cemetery.

Mr. Whinery came to this community about 1899 and filed on a claim four miles north of Sentinel where he lived for several years. He later moved to a farm eight miles south of Canute where he resided until his death Saturday.

Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Grace McEntire, Carter and Mrs. Cecil Prickett, Canujte; two sons, Richard Whinery, Carter and Earl Whinery, Dill City; three half brothers, E. T. Smith, Sentinel, Elmer Smith, Walnut Springs Texas and Lewis Smith, Hardesty.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Nora Whinery, Mrs. May Bearden and Mrs. Matty Jones and one brother John Whinery.
