My Great Grandpa J.D. Swank was born March 13, 1901 in Bartlesville. Exactly 9 months and 7 days prior to his birth on the 1900 census his dad appears with no bride. Status appears to be a D marked over with an S or the other way around. They may have broke up or were never really together. I am unsure. She is a full blooded Osage who may have the name Mary or Rosa. I am told she died before 1910, when J.D. was a young boy. How in the world can I find her name? Last name may have been Strike-Axe but this could be family confusion (My thoughts) over his aunt Mary Swank marrying Cap Strike-Axe as he went to see them often. I find no Strike-Axe's who could have been his mother. He lived in the Osage or Washington Counties until his mother's death at which time he went to live with his father who had moved on to another county. As a boy he was often called Delbert. I just want to give his mother a name. He called his father uncle as he had a new family. That part I can trace. All I know are a few minute details. Is is unlikely he was ever registered on any rolls.
