Family Histories Of Washington County, Oklahoma

A FAMILY HISTORY BOOK is planned for the Washington County area. The Washington County Area History Board, co-chaired by Art Gorman and Vicki Stewart, has organized a council to compile and publish a book slated to be released in time for Oklahoma’s centennial celebration, in 2007.

The purpose of the book is to preserve and present a history of early families, by publishing a book entitled “Family Histories of Washington County, Oklahoma.” The book’s emphasis will be on families that reside in, or have resided in the Washington County areas from early settlers to about 1970.

The board is seeking families to submit a personal text of their family’s historical facts, entertaining stories or events and a photo. There will be two sections in the book. The first section will include in alphabetical order a limited text of no more then 500 words and one photo. The second section will be titled, RECOGNITION SECTION, and will have additional text and or/photos. The first section is FREE but there will be a charge for submissions to the Recognition Section.

For additional information and submission details, visit the web page for guidelines for submitting your family to the book, consent/submission forms, order forms etc. or call the Bartlesville Area History Museum at 918-338-4290.
