Mat "Daddy" Henderson, 76, pioneer resident of the county, passed away at the home of his son, Jess Henderson, here last evening about 8:30 o'clock..
He came to this country about 1906 and filed on a homestead near Range, where he had his home until about 12 years ago when he came to Guymon to make his home with his son.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Camrick school house.Burial will be made in the Range cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. L. S. Smith of Hardesty, Mrs. Orville Holmes of Liberal, and Mrs. Robert Smith of Hardesty; and four sons, Jess Henderson of Guymon, Bill Henderson of Oklahoma City, Buck Henderson of Perrington, and Elmer Henderson of Liberal.

Beautiful funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon at the Camerick school for Mat "Daddy" Henderson, beloved pioneer, who passed away at the home of his son, Jess Henderson, of this city, Wednesday, January 5th.
The high esteem in which he was held was evidenced in the large attendance of his many friends from the entire county who crowded the school to pay their last tribute to one of the pioneers who had aided in the up-building of this county.Mr. Henderson homesteaded in the early part of this century in the Camerick neighborhood near Range, where he aided in the organization of the church at Camerick of which he was a charter member.
Rev. J. W. Chapman assisted by J. W. Grider had charge of the funeral services with a comforting message for the bereaved ones.The song service was given by a quartet composed of Joe Dean, Ernest and Arthur Liese and Clifford Jackson who sang "Going Down the Valley." "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Sweet Peace the Gift of God's Love."The beautiful floral offerings bestoke the love of his many friends.Burial was made in the Camerick cemetery with the Moore Funeral Home in charge.

Mat Henderson was born June 29th, 1861 in Guntown, Mississippi and departed this life, January 5, 1938.At the age of 12, he moved with his parents to Texas.He was married to Miss Ardelle Hill in Johnson county Texas, to which union eight children were born, one of whom died in infancy.The seven who survive are:Bill, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Orville Holmes, Liberal, Kansas; Mrs. Robert Smith and Mrs. Lewis Smith , both of Hardesty; Buck Henderson, Perryton, Texas; Elmer of Liberal; and Jess of Guymon.Besides the immediate family there are a number of grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives who mourn his departure.
"Daddy" as he was known to his friends, came to Texas county with his family in 1905.He had always been a lover of music especially singing and while a young man was a capable music director for a number of years.
While but a lad, "Daddy" gave his heart to Christ and since that time has been a member of the Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the church at Camerick and was a faithful member until his death.
The last twelve years of his life was spent with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Henderson, of Guymon.Here he not only had a home but their kind and loving attention was rendered to him every day of his life.
The pains of death are past, labor and sorrows cease; And life's long warfare closed at last,His soul is paid in peace.Soldier of Christ, well done!Praise be they new employ.And while eternal ages run, rest in thy Savior's joy.

Mrs. Susan Ardella Henderson, a pioneer resident of Hardesty Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1947, at 9 a. m. in Sentinal Hospital from complications of a broken hip.
Susan Ardella Henderson was born Jan. 3, 1868, in Lee County, Miss., and passed away at 3:15 a. m. October 16, 1947, at the age of 79 years, 9 months.
She was married in 1887 to Matt Henderson, at Eldorado, Texas.To this union were born seven children, Elmer Henderson, Jess A. Henderson, Jannett Lee Henderson Smith, William Judson Henderson, Ona Henderson Holmes, Lillie Mae Henderson Smith, and Carney B. Henderson.She is also survived by 17 living grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other loved ones and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 19, at the United Brethren Church in Hardesty.Flowers were arranged by Mmes. Evalene Woolridge and Maggie Springmeyer.Flower girls were Barbara Bowman, Yvonne Woolridge, Clarice Pierson and Gloria Sullivan under the direction of Mrs. S. S. Sullivan.Reverend Lowe of Guymon Baptist Church officiated.Pall bearers were Homer Holland, Lonnie Dow, Homer Long, Franz McCullough, F. Hiner, Dale Lon Trent.A quartet consisting of Joe Dean, Arthur Leise, Mesdames Dennis Reynolds and Cecil Hayes sang "The Old Rugged Cross" "Going Down the Valley" and "Pearly White City."They were accompanied on the piano by Mrs C. E. French.
