I am participating in a DNA genealogy project with 50 other Payne family groups. I sent my DNA kit on March 12 and was received on March 15, 2006. As you know, we all have had trouble figuring out where our family was before 1880 census on Marion County Arkansas, where they first showed up. I have made an exhaustive search in the surrounding counties, but can only speculate. With DNA, if we match up with any other Payne families who are participating, we might be able to close the gap or at least find out where and when our families migrated. I will have all the result for the family reunion.

I have photo copies of the WW1 draft registration cards of George W. Payne and Jones Walter Payne. I will bring this also.

I am ordering a book titled “Genealogy of Marion County Families” in which our descendants are listed and this may help also in our research.

If any of you have any records and I mean any records or related to another family that might have information on our family, please bring it with you.

Please get the word out to all of your families and let’s all have a great reunion!! Even if they don’t stay Friday night, ask them to attend the reunion.

May God bless each of you.

Leslie Payne

Related Families (There is more, but my brain can’t remember all of them)
Clark, Crenshaw, Fields, Friend, Harris, Henderson, Herron, Honeycutt, Mankins, Phillips, Plumley, Wiggins
