Just a hint- next time post the names you are looking for- I have been to the library twice this week I could have had the location in about 15 minutes once I got there.

After 1880 they switched to soundex. Prior to 1880 it was all indexed which was hard to do - especially if you were looking or a John Smith, James Brown etc.
