Although the 1910 Pottawatomie County Census clearly lists Bertie Grable as widowed, further research shows that Nora's father, John Hickman Grable, was living in OKlahoma City in 1910. By 1920 he had remarried and was living in Buchanan County MO. When he died in 1928, Miss Nora Belle Grable signed his death certificate as the informant. The death certificate can be found online at this website. He died in Buchanan County MO. His parents are shown as Valentine Grable and Caroline Willard. This couple was living in Pottawatomie Co. OK in 1900.

In the 1920 Clinton Co. Missouri census, Nora B. Grable is age 14, living as a boarder in a home which was next door to her grandparents, Valentine and Caroline Grable.

Since the name is shown as Grable, the spelling must have changed somewhere along the way.
