MARTIN Family and DNA
I would like to exchange with descendants of any of the following in my husband’s MARTIN line:
Henry Martin (believed from Essex Co, VA) and w. Jane ____ - Spotsylvania Co., VA (owned land in Gloucester Co. in the early 1700’s)
Descendants also lived in Cumberland, Caroline, Halifax and I believe Brunswick and Albemarle Counties, VA.
Benjamin Martin and w. Elizabeth (____) BLANTON - Orange and Culpeper Counties., VA
Benjamin Martin and w. Sarah BAKER – Jessamine Co., KY
Had descendants in Henry, Shelby, Calloway, Graves, Hickman and McCracken Counties, KY., and also Henry, Weakley and Obion Counties, TN – and unknown TN Counties.
Abner Martin and w. Nancy GORDON – Hopkins, Henderson, Warren and other Counties, KY – moved to Lafayette Co., MO in ca 1820
Descendants lived in Jackson, Platte, Clay, Ray, Johnson, Henry, Saline, Buchanan, Andrew and northwest MO counties and in Iowa.
One son, Abner Martin Jr., lived to adulthood but we don’t know where he went after that – probably MO, but we don’t know.
Larkin Martin and w. Thurza N. BAKER – Greene, Howell, Douglas and Webster Counties, MO
(Brother of Larkin, Gallatin Martin, went to Benton Co., AR and married Christina STRICKLER)
James D. Martin and w. Eliz. F. TOWNLIN – Douglas Co., MO
John Isaac Martin and w. Mary R. TATUM – Pittsburg Co., OK
Roy Lee Martin and w. Raby GOODMAN – Pittsburg Co., OK
James I. Martin and w. Wilma DOUGLAS – Potter Co., TX
James “Roger” Martin – my husband
Other known descendants live / lived in the Washington, Crawford and Benton Counties Arkansas, San Francisco and San Diego, CA, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas (many counties), and possibly Washington State as well.
I would also appreciate very much any MARTIN researchers with ancestry in the above locations joining our Martin DNA Project – web site at http://www.small-stuff.com/MARTIN/DNA/http://www.small-stuff.com/MARTIN/DNA/. We’ve already found several matches that proved our traditional research and have found new cousins that we have yet to prove how they connect to our line. I have posted two charts at http://ImageEvent.com/sunimaze/currentdnahttp://ImageEvent.com/sunimaze/currentdna if you would like to see those. Please consider joining us – we need to find more cousins through DNA! Thank you!
