I need help! I know very little about my Gilliland line, however I'm beginning to form
some theories. These theories have a lot of holes I'm hoping you all can help fill!

My grandmother, Daisy May (Mae?) Gilliland was born May 29, 1890 in Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas. She died September 30, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, when my father was only eight years old. His memories of that early part of his life were sketchy, and he died when I was 13, so I have very little to go on. What we do know (from Daisy's death certificate) is that her father was a J. S. Gilliland. We know nothing more, except maybe that his wife's name was Rachel. There is some information that puts J. S. and Wife Gilliland in the rural parts of Oklahoma in the 1920s and 1930s (perhaps earlier?).

Mr. Earl House so kindly shared his information about the James Carroll Gilliland/William Jefferson Gilliland line, and it really seems as though William J. Gilliland's son John Sherman Gilliland may be my line. His first wife was Sallie Seagraves, and his second wife was Rachel Pentland. Rachel and Sallie were Daisy's daughters' names as well. Plus, some of that line (William's) wound up in Pawnee County, Oklahoma.

Yet, here's my problem (sorry to be so long winded). I have no information about John Sherman's children, nor is there a link to him in Boone County around 1890. I haven't checked any records yet; I was hoping to get some leads here before I pursued it more. According to the Boone County Arkansas Federal Land Records <> I see that there is a Thomas J. Gilliland who owns land in Boone County in the late 1860s. Is this another link?

Oh, this gets muddier and muddier the more I look into it! Can anyone out there help?
Feel free to email me.
