You might check Mayes County. There is a small town
called Spavinaw, Ok. Pryor is the county seat. It was a white settlement in what was to become Ok.They could have
lived in Spavinaw, there are several big rivers & creeks
in that area. That is where the name Spavinaw maybe came into the history of your family. Mayes was formed at statehood (1907) from parts of the Cherokee Nation, plus a small part of the Creek Nation. These towns are all very close to Vinita. I was born & raised in Afton, but was born in Vinita. All the little towns are just about 20 to 30 minutes apart. Hopes this helps some.......just a little bit of our state history. I'm an ancestor of the Great Cherokee Tribe. My GrGrGrandmother was our blood line, her son, my GrGrandfather & Grandfather signed the Dawes Rolls. You had to be living in I.T. have proof of
residence, proof of blood line & that time period was between 1898 & 1906 to be able to sign the Dawes. And only
if they wanted to & if they didn't nothing happened, they
just didn't get the grants. The other Rolls that
were set up when they moved the tribes of the East didn't
matter either, it had to be in I.T. (Ok) the Dawes Rolls.
Sorry I wrote so much, but love the history of our state
& our hertiage. I hope this helps in someway?
