Obituary 10 July 1936 of W C Jones
W C Jones, 73 years old, died at his home, 23 N Connell Ave in Picher at 3 o'clock this am following a long illness. Mr Jones was known as "the father of Picher" having opened the first store in Picher after coming here May 15, 1915. He continued the grocery and meat business until a few months ago when he retired because of ill health. Survivors are his wife Lizzie Jones, two stepsons, Bert Luther of Baxter Springs, and William Luther of Texas, one stepdaughter Mrs Sadie Allred of Douthat Oklahoma, and one sister Mrs Susie Lamy of Los Angeles, California. Last rites will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in teh First Baptist Church with Rev D W Brashear officiating. Internment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Joplin with the Durnil Undertaking Company in charge.

I still believe him to be related in some way. My greatgreat uncle Edward Jones was also a Merchant-Grocery and living next door to William in Picher in 1930. There was a William who was a brother to Edwards Father, Cadwallader William Jones, and also a William, son of Cadwallader ands Harriet Jones who left the family never to be seen or heard of again due to the rough life back then. so, keep me in mind and i will keep you in mind and maybe we will connect someday. very best wishes, joan
