I was wondering if anyone might know any information or be able to point me in the right direction. I am researching a collection of Osage objects at the Smithsonian Institution (collected in 1885) that were donated by a Miss Florence C. Morse in 1934. I have very little information about Miss Morse (no birth or death date), only that she was living in Cambridge, MA at the time that the objects were donated. At this point, I'm assuming that the donor and the collector of the objects is the same person. It has been suggested by persons knowledgable about Oklahoma during this time period that Miss Morse may have been a single woman who was either a government school teacher, missionary, or field matron living and working with the Osage in 1885. She may have been in her 20s or 30s when she collected the objects. I have thus far been unable to find any useful information concerning the donor and would be grateful if anyone might have some information or suggestions.
