My questions have been answered, thanks to the kindness of another researcher in Nowata, Ok.

Now I know exactly how my uncle died on that terrible day.

Thomas Melvin Dodson, age 19,( son of Robert Sidney Dodson and Nannie Simco) and his friend, Elmer Manard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Manard, were struck by the cowcatcher on a train as it sped by. They had been sent there to guard the railroad bridge because of heavy flooding in the area.

Date of the accident is 14 April 1927
