JOHN OMER BOYD, CONTRACTOR, DIES FOLLOWING ILLNESS
John Omer Boyd, 60, building contractor and a resident here 20 years, died in a Dallas hospital Monday after an illness of more than two years. He lived at Route 1, Box 827.
Boyd was born in Nevada, Mo., and lived most of his early life in Muskogee, Okla.
He was a contractor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company buildings constructed throughout the region. He also worked for the government several years.
He was a member of Hella Lodge of McAlester, Okla., Associated General Contractors, West Cliff Lions Club and Elmwood Methodist Church.
He and his wife lost their only son, Robert Dilman Boyd, during World War II.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Dudley M. Hughes Chapel, 400 East Jefferson. The Rev. Morgan Smith and the Rev. R.M. Jenson officiated. Burial was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Greenhill Cemetery at Muskogee.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. C.E. Mask of Dallas; mother, Mrs. William W. Sullivan of Fort Worth; two brothers, L.W. Boyd and J.A. Boyd, both of Fort Worth; three sisters, Mrs. E.E. Kenney, Mrs. Earl Cox and Mrs. Grady Nix, all of Fort Worth; and two granddaughters.
