Sulphur: JOHN R. LONG, Sulphur Route 2, longtime state rancher, died Tuesday in Arbuckle Memorial Hospital. His death followed a sudden illness. Services were Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bahner Funeral Home. Rev. MAURICE ROBINSON of Purcell officiated. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. Long was born Nov. 3, 1884 in Sulphur Springs, Texas where he spent his early life. He moved to Old McGee, Indian Territory then to Pauls Valley in 1908. He came to Sulphr in 1950 but had owned a ranch here since 1935.Mr. Long leaves the wife, Mrs. BLANCHE LONG, two sons, J. R. LONG Jr. of Sulphur and Dr. GEORGE LONG of Purcell; a sister, Mrs. MAUDE HEWITT of Pauls Valley; two brothers, EDWARD LONG of Stratford and C. C. LONG of Pauls Valley, and four grandchildren.

There are other articles from late 1920ís to 1950ís in reference to W. G. Long of Sulphur who was a judge and county /district attorney, also in other counties.
