I have been researching my family in Ok, and my ancestors sister Mary married a Dru Reeves. Their children were born around 1884. That would make them kind of young to have had a child in 1896, but not entirely impossible! Mary's father was half cherokee, making her son also part cherokee, and then if this is your grandfathers father , then he too would be part cherokee.

If this is the correct family, I've run into a brick wall tracking down the actual cherokee ancestor who was known to be Elizabeth possibly wolf, then married name Johnson. She is not listed anywhere but our bible. I'd appreciate you sharing any Reeves info. from Ok, that you've gathered. Thanks.
