I've just found 3 and, possibly, a 4th POWELL son who was born in Georgia between 1830 and 1850. There may be more, but these are the only ones I've been able to tie into my family.
Thomas POWELL - b. abt 1835
The possible is:
R.Y. POWELL - b. unknown
Thomas was widowed in the 1880 Van Zandt County, TX, census and living with Robert. Isaac lived next door. According to the census, they *and* their parents were all born in Georgia.
Robert (wm40 in 1880 census) married Margaret C. ? (wf31 in 1880 census) and they had:
1. Elmer A. (wm6 in 1880 census)
Isaac (wm35 in 1880 census) married Martha J. Davidson? (wf28 in 1880 census) and they had:
1. Daniel (wm9 in 1880 census)
and living with them was DAVIDSON, M. listed as mother-in-law (wf65 in 1880 census).
Also listed in the Scholastic records, but for 1890-91, is POWELL, L.C. (f) age 14 whose parent/guardian was R.Y. POWELL. In the Scholastic records for Elmer and Elfee in the previous year, the guardian was shown as Bob POWELL and L.C. does not appear in any records I find for Robert/Bob.
L.C. *could* be Lucinda Clementine POWELL who was my great grandmother. According to a cousin (a descendant of Jesse POWELL), his ancestor was sent to Love County, OK, to live with an uncle or something. He married and moved to California in the 1920s.
According to my grandmother, she had an uncle Jesse POWELL who went to California in the 1920s. Jesse *may* have been a cousin who moved in with Clementine's family and became a step-brother. Or, Clementine could have just dropped through the Van Zandt County cracks and R.Y. is Robert.
