Familysearch is a free site with a very large amount of information.
Ancestry.com is free at any local Family History Center Run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints ~ everyone is welcome.
Rootsweb world connect is a free site that has info of other's research and is free.
Find a grave is free and has millions of records and many times it has obituaries.
