I'm an adopted person looking for info on both the families that raised me as well as my biological families.
names that will be of service here are:
John Francis Day - Villa K Day (Johnson)- Neil Day - Gail & Carry Johnson - Fayette Simpson (Johnson)
Fred, Merle, Valma, Alma, Clinton, Myron Paul Shuyler - Charlotte Shuyler (Taylor)
Glenda Thomas - Cindy Teague - Edith & Ethel Trotter - Larry & Leo Thomas
Alec, Larry, Tony, Terry, Bobby, Susan & Rita Romo (Valdez)
My adopted dad's name is Day (his mom Johnson)- mom's is Shuyler (her mom Taylor).
My adopted father's family is Welsh-Irish (via Norway oddly then Ireland & Wales) before 1066 C.E.
They came to the colonies roughly 1760 and settled in the area of Virginia with the Lincoln & Herndon families (that would be 16th president A. Lincoln) now known as Kentucky.
There are several John Days & Francis Days in this family. His father was John Francis Day. I am unclear on the exact amount of siblings, but there were several boys who all served as officers in the Civil War & survived. They had to provide their own horses, so that implies money.
Some migrated to the Oklahoma Panhandle (Harper County) - Indian Territory - as Boomers in the Land Run, which also implies money since there were filing fees as well as a contractual agreement with the government to work the land & improve upon it at a cost to the Boomers within 2 years of the filing.
That family still resides in Woodward Oklahoma & has worked primarily in agriculture. Neil Day would be considered to be the Patrilineal representative currently. His family have primarily conducted horse ranching & competitive rodeo. He has a ranch & owns a tack shop.
There are several relatives in that area with the Day name as well as other names, such as Johnson, Taylor, Shirm & Shuyler- all migrants in the Land Run. The Johnsons are Irish & arrived from the East with the Swedish-German Shuylers who have been in the country since the Revolutionary War, producing a General from New York whose estate is preserved as a historical landmark today. Many of these stayed in that area or migrated to Oklahoma via Pennsylvania. They intermarried with the Scotch-Irish Taylors who migrated down from Illinois & Kansas. The Days went through Missouri from Kentucky to get to Oklahoma.
These days several of the family are scattered everywhere from Washington, California, Idaho & Oregon- but there are still many in the Panhandle of Oklahoma as well as in the core Eastern Kentucky area of the Appalachians, perhaps also the Blue Ridge Mtns.
This information is from my adopted sister who has cooperated with our aunt, a Shirm. It is her son, my cousin, who is Neil Day.
Neil has entered his DNA into a database and found genetic markers that confirm the findings of their incomplete research & also reveals Native American genetics as well. Some of the Days also will find intermarriage with Russian Hebrews that adds to the present DNA.
My search also includes my actual biological family trees, which are Jewish, Native American (Central Band Cherokee & Choctaw) & Italian with family names such Thomas, Trotter, Romo, Beck, Becker, etc.
I know very little of both my maternal & paternal families other than they converged in Chickasha Oklahoma.
Maternally the names are Thomas & Trotter with Central Band Cherokee & Irish-Jewish DNA. I have indications the Thomas's found themselves in Oregon & that the Trotters avoided the Indian Rolls & processing to avoid persecution, hate & racism.
Paternally the names is Romo & the others listed above, but have unclear info on all of this since I am adopted. I understand that the Romo's are Romans that settled in the Moorish areas today known as Spain then found themselves in the Western Hemisphere, possibly via the islands such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc. & then up probably through Mexico bringing a hispanic identity with them as well as Choctaw Native American intermarriage & heritage. Apparently this is how my Latin-Choctaw paternal grandfather married my Jewish paternal grandmother.
That's all I have thus far.
Hope this info is a starting place & is of aid to anyone reading this message.
