There is very little online for Oklahoma in terms of death indexes or obituaries. I looked in the Social Security Death Index and the Veterans Burial Index but no luck.
Suggest you contact the Oklahoma Historical Society in OK City. Some websites say they have obituary indexes, though not covering the years John died, but they may have changed. They do charge a small fee if they are able to help:
