Dallas, TX—The 2006 Summer Institute, sponsored by the Dallas Genealogical Society, will be held July 27-30 at the J. Erik Jonsson Dallas Public Library, 1515 Young St., Dallas. This year’s topic, “Mining for Genealogical Treasures, ” will offer tips and insights that can aid the genealogist in finding elusive ancestors and make their research more productive.

Three nationally recognized speakers will be featured. Lloyd Bockstruck (F.N.G.S.) writes the weekly column for the Dallas Morning News, called “The Family Tree.” He also teaches genealogical courses at the internationally recognized Samford University. His lectures will offer tips and insights on researching new localities, female ancestors and little used resources. Pat Hatcher (F.A.G.S.), an ever popular speaker, frequent contributor to Ancestry.com’s Ancestry Daily News, and author of numerous books, will offer methods to improve skills in analyzing existing data and identifying hidden clues to where an ancestor may have come from. John Sellers, author of “Hopkins County Remembered,” has done extensive research in courthouses throughout the South, especially Texas and Louisiana. His lectures offer tricks and techniques when researching at courthouses, among Masonic records, and in newspapers. He explores records that go beyond common deeds and probate.
