Some Items The Daily Ardmoreite Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma June 3, 1928 Items about Ringling Dillard Will Case Continued Ringling, June 2-- The contest involving the will of the late J. H. DILLARD of Ringling was continued to Monday, Jun 18 on motion of the attorneys for the contestants… SCOTT and MCLEAN of Fort Worth, attorneys for the contestants. The contestants are represented by BASS and SAUNDERS of Ardmore, GREEN and PRUET of Waurika, CHAM JONES of Duncan, SCOTT and MCLEAN of Fort Worth. The contestants are the nine children of J. H. DILLARD by his first wife, MRS. VIDA DILLARD, the executrix, and the principal beneficiary under the terms of the will is represented by TOM NORMAN of Ardmore, J. S. HARPER of Waurika, and BRIDGES and IVY of Waurika. GEORGE ROBERTS, former teacher in Ringling, brother of BILL ROBERTS, Ringling banker, married MISS NORMA HILL of Oklahoma City last week. Roberts graduated from the local high school and is just completing his master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma this spring. He will teach in the Demmitt, Texas schools next term of school. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. FISH have been spending the past week with Mr. Fish’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. FISH of Ringling. They have been teaching in New Mexico. This summer, both will on the faculty of the Abilene Christian College. Then next fall they will take regular teaching jobs with the Christian College , Thorp Springs, Texas. They have completed their master’s degrees at the Teachers College, Columbia University, New York. Mr. Fish is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, scholastic fraternity. He was once principal of the local high school and Mrs. Fish taught the second grade here. They are driving through to Abilene this weekend where they will take on their duties next Wednesday in the college there. Ringling feels that it has two of the best local pastors in the section in the persons of REV. H.A LONGINO, pastor of the Methodist church, and REV. C. S MCCLUNG, pastor of the Baptist church. In addition to being unique in their abilities for a place of this size to command, they have another distinction in that both were married on the same day of the same month of the same year, June 6, 1918 in the afternoon. HUGH ROFF of this place receives his law degree from the University of Oklahoma this month. He is a graduate of the local high school. His father is W. H. ROFF of Marietta. DR. W. C. YATES, local dentist, who is visiting his relatives in Abilene, Texas, is reported on the sick list. He will be taken to the hospital at Temple, Texas. The newly organized Rotary club here is progressing nicely in its record of attendance. It has held up to the 100% mark so far. Several guests: DR. HOLLINGWORTH, KARL SUMMERS of Waurika, JOHN GODDARD of Wilson, W. R. HARRIS and J. W SHERFEY of Ringling. A committee of business men of this place completed arrangements with land owners whereby the Lee highway running from here to Dixie and Loco can be widened and graded. This will open a new avenue of trade to this place. The Bell Telephone company agreed to move all its posts back to any distance desired by the commissioners an committee. W. A SAMPLES has taken a leading part in the helping to make this possible. TOM DORSETT, local county commissioner, will have the work of grading in charge. CARL PRICE of Ringling and MISS CLEO BAKER of Grady were married here last Sunday, REV. H. A. LONGINO officiating. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. BAKER and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A PRICE of Ringling. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. WOODWORTH and MRS. MAUDE MATHEWS attended a school meeting at the Mountain Home school house Monday. MRS. J. D. BURLESON of Dallas is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. MCCRORY of this place. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. MEANS and their son and daughter, DONALD and JENNY, accompanied by MRS. D. F. SPRADLING of this place spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mr. ED CAPPS of Waurika. F. L. FENTRESS and family visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. FENTRESS of Chickasha. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. DANIEL spent a pleasant evening playing bridge with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. SHERFEY. A company of young folks and grownups went to a fishing and pleasure trip to Lake Ardmore Tuesday. Those on the trip: MRS. FRED GILLEY, S. O. POOL, BONNYE MARIE SHERFEY, LA VERNE SHERFEY, JOHN DEE GARRETSON, HARRY LEE MCCRORY, HERN SPRADLING, REX THOMAS., FRED POPPLEWELL, VANUS PARKER, WILMA HENSON, GLADYS MCMICHAEL. W. H. HACKLER and family moved to Norman this week. They will have two children in the University next term of school. S. O. POOL has been elected to head the school system as superintendent for the next term of school. He has serviced the past two years as high school principal. Ringling can boast of a thriving tennis club. A splendid court has been build right in the heart of town and most any afternoon can be seen devotees in action. Among: E. C. GARNER, MARSHALL SAMPLES, ERNEST GOODMAN, L. M. LONDON, F. C. KEATON, H. A. LONGINO, J. T. DANIEL. QUIDA JACKSON and GERTRUDE POPPLEWELL, who have been attending Southeastern Teachers College, and CHRISTINE WORSHAM who has been attending the Presbyterian college at Durant are home for the summer.
