Sharon, I only wish there was a comprehensive state index for divorce/marriages. That would be a genealogist's dream come true. For CURRENT records only, there are two databases online for about 40+ counties in Oklahoma: http://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/start.asp?viewType=DOCKETS Click on SEARCH DOCKETS for one database and NON-OCIS COUNTIES for another. (I note Ottawa County is uploading marriage/divorce records from as far back as the 1940's) In other words, you would still have to contact the county courthouses themselves OR you might try contacting a volunteer for each county on GenForum or Rootsweb. Perhaps someone is available for a lookup. Here's a website showing all 77 court court clerks' contact information: http://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/start.asp?viewType=COURTS And no, couples did not have to seek a divorce in the county in which they were married, but could file for divorce in the county of their RESIDENCE. Happy New Year, Sandy Notify Administrator about this message?
