The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, June 27, 1907 On Tuesday morning, June 25th, at 8:30 o'clock, occurred the wedding of MISS ADDA L. MANNING, of this city, to CHARLES G. SHANE, of Lawton, Okla., at the home of the bride, Rev. Evans, of the First Methodist Church, performing the ceremony in the presence of one hundred and twenty-five guests. To the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march, executed by Mrs. Nellie Allen, of LaGrange, the bride and groom took their places in the bay window of the south parlor beneath a horseshoe of evergreens and white roses, with a white and green background, where the words were spoken which made them man and wife. Mr. Frank Manning, brother of the bride, was best man, and Miss Cleo Bryan, of St. Joseph, Mo., Bridesmaid. Just preceding the ceremony Mrs. Frank Engebretsen sang, "I Love You Truly," and during congratulations Miss Cleo Bryan played a cello solo, "Melodies of Love." The bride looked her best in a dress of white Persian lawn, trimmed in maltese lace and Brazillian point bertha, and carried a shower bouquet of bride's roses. Her traveling suit was brown silk panama, with hat and gloves to match. She is an accomplished and refined young lady, a graduate of the Chariton High School in the class of '97. She is a member of the Yadirf Club and is prominent in society circles, where she will be greatly missed. She has been teaching in the city schools for the past six years, four years in eighth grade work, and the last two in the high school, and declined the position the coming year, to take up a school of her own. The groom is a man of sterling worth and integrity, is a prosperous real estate agent in the city of Lawton, and is connected with the Belamy Real Estate firm. The bridesmaid's dress was white Swiss with yellow sash and gloves, and carried a bouquet of marguerites. After congratulations had been extended the happy couple, an elegant breakfast was served. MR. and MRS. SHANE left on the morning train for a visit with friends in Kansas City and Oklahoma City, after which they will be at home to their many friends in Lawton, Okla. The leader joins their many friends in wishing them a happy and prosperous life. The out of town guests were Mrs. Rebecca Rhoads, of Mt. Ayr, Henry McPherson, of Illinois City, and Cleo Bryan, of St. Joseph, Mo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert December 22, 2004 iggy29@rnetinc.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm Notify Administrator about this message?
