John C. Pierce 1819-1900 was born West Virginia, grew up in Indiana, migrated to Dexter, Cowley County, Kansas and made "THE RUN" into Newkirk, Kay County, Oklahoma. He is buried in Newkirk Cemetery.
John was married to Lavina Jones 1828-1914 and had following children; Frances, Flavius Joseph, James Bufford, Thadius Madison, William Franklin, Josephine, Emily Alice, Thomas S., Mary Belle, Lavinia and Ida Elizabeth with a final child named Homer Pierce born 1872.
Intermarrying surnames were Bell, Jewell, Greenlee, Vaughn, Helm, Jackson, Tilman Pierce, Hull, McAlister and Burk.
Some of the above Pierce children lived in Payne and Major Counties, Oklahoma as well.
