I am looking for more information for my family tree. Any help you can give is appreciated. This is what I know so
Saul Calhoun (my great-grandfather), slave to John C. Calhoun, Jr., (who was the son of v.p.) in South Carolina.
Migrated to Texas when freed and married Jane (no last name) who was 3/4 Choctaw. They married and had 10 children.
1.John, oldest boy, named for slave owner
2.George 3.Fred 4.Edward (married a woman named Nettie) 5.Pink (real name?) Lived in Toledo at one time. His son,
William, also lived in Toledo 6.A.C. (Changed name to Albert Cornelius when he married) 7.Thomas, youngest boy
8.Ella, oldest girl 9.Rena , second daughter, married someone named Davis. Her son, Lonnie Davis, had a daughter
named Awilda Davis 10.Alice, third daughter.
The family migrated to Texas. There, Albert (my grandfather) met Rachel Belle Alexander and they were married on
Dec. 12, 1911, in McIntosh County, Oklahoma. They had seven children.
1. Alpha Earnest 2.Ira Agusta (my father) 3.Alonzo Curtis 4.Samuel Edward
5.Eugene Merril (Meril?) 6.Lee Ester Mae 7.Robert Leo
Rachael Belle Alexander was one of eight children as follows: 1.Rachael Belle 2.Emma, who married a man named Odom 3.Samuel Edward, known as Uncle Bud 4.Emanuel 5.Cicerly 6.Naomi, her son was a merchant seaman 7.Sarah 8.Willie, had three sons, one named Ira.
Any dates, the location of the plantation or anything else would be great. Thanks
